About the

project

"Lost Architecture العمارة المفقودة" is a documentation and educational project aimed at documenting and raising awareness about the increasing cases of destruction of the unprotected and unlisted Egyptian architectural heritage.

Our current goal is to build a collective knowledge base for all the listed, unlisted, demolished and endangered architectural heritage and make it available to the public in the near future via various mediums.

WHO WE ARE

It became very evident the danger of the systematic attack and demolition of our rich architectural heritage that have been increasingly happening for the past four decades. Despite the increasing attempts of many campaigns against this increasing wave of attacks, nothing seems to be effective in slowing down this anytime soon!

We are a group of architects, planners and citizens who felt the urgency of documenting and archiving this unretrievable heritage as an attempt of preserving our heritage and our collective experience for the future generations by creating a collective knowledge base and make it available to the public via various mediums.

We believe that creating this kind of knowledge base for our rich architectural heritage will need much more than one man's effort or even a group of people, this is why we are inviting anyone who's interested in participating all across Egypt, professional or nonprofessional.
